As you can probably imagine,the recent progress in the land of hollywood towards equal rights is pretty gratifying to me – all my complaints about ‘bid for external validation’ aside, it make me feel really good to know that just on the offchance I fell in love with my sould mate today, we could jump in my ghetto car and drive down a state to get legally married.

I was reading this article about Chief Justice Ronald M. George’s decision -

… the 68-year-old moderate Republican was drawn by memory to a long ago trip he made with his European immigrant parents through the American South. There, the signs warning “No Negro” or “No colored” left “quite an indelible impression on me,” he recalled in a wide-ranging interview Friday.

“I think,” he concluded, “there are times when doing the right thing means not playing it safe.”

That is a fantastic quote. “There are times when doing the right thing means not playing it safe.”
